After the raw material cooking process, the separation of the fat and solids from the begins. In this phase after the digester and pressing, the solids content with the fat is high, and if it is not removed, it can cause a high acidity index when finished. For the solids coarse separation from the fat, after the process in the digesters, the Sieve Percolator equipment can be used.

In order to reduce the presence of solids before passing through the Centrifugal Decanter, the Rotary Strainer unit can be used, which also relieves any possible overload of solids in the Centrifugal Decanter unit. Finally, for solids concentration in fat less than 1%, the Centrifugal Decanter  equipment is used. The fat is collected in percolators and the press is pre-heated and mixed in a dosing tank that feeds the centrifugal decanter through positive displacement pumps.
